BMS panel design, manufacture & install — under one roof

We design, build and commission bespoke BMS control panels and Motor Control Centres for commercial, industrial, healthcare, education and data-centre estates. Every assembly is engineered to BS EN 61439-1/-2, wired to BS 7671 and commissioned to BSRIA BG 49 — with full FAT, drawings and O&M deliverables.

Whether you need a single AHU controls panel, a phased MCC retrofit or a complete plant-room rebuild, our workshop produces panels that drop straight onto the BMS supervisor — Trend, Tridium Niagara, Siemens Desigo, Schneider EcoStruxure or Honeywell.

Our 6-step control panel design & build process

STEP 01

Survey & specification

Site survey, plant inventory, points-list capture and review of the controls philosophy. We confirm IP rating, ambient conditions, fault levels and the supervisor platform.

STEP 02

Design & GA drawings

General arrangement, schematic, wiring and termination drawings issued in AutoCAD/EPLAN. Form-of-separation, segregation and discrimination calcs included.

STEP 03

Manufacture & wiring

Built in our workshop to BS EN 61439-1/-2. Components from ABB, Schneider, Siemens, Eaton, Phoenix Contact. Loom-wired, ferruled and labelled to drawing.

STEP 04

Factory Acceptance Test (FAT)

Routine verification per BS EN 61439, dielectric strength, continuity and operational checks. Witnessed FAT available with a written test certificate.

STEP 05

Delivery & installation

Logistics, offload, positioning, glanding and termination on site. Power-up checks and energisation to match the agreed shutdown window.

STEP 06

Commissioning & handover

Point-to-point, sequence proving and integration to the BMS supervisor. O&M pack, as-installed drawings and test certificates issued at handover.

Types of control panel we manufacture

BMS / outstation panels

Trend IQ4, Tridium JACE, Siemens PXC, Schneider AS-P or Honeywell CIPer outstations with field I/O, relays and fused field power.

Motor Control Centres (MCC)

Form 2/3/4 MCCs with DOL, star-delta, soft-start or VSD starters — fully integrated into the BMS over hard-wired or BACnet/Modbus.

Plant-room control panels

Boiler, chiller, AHU, CHP, calorifier and pump-set control panels with manual/auto override, BMS interlocks and run/fault indication.

Distribution & sub-main boards

TP&N distribution boards with MCB/MCCB protection, surge protection and metering for sub-circuits feeding controls and plant.

Pump & booster set panels

Duty/standby/assist control with VSDs, pressure transducers and BMS reporting — for pressurisation, booster and circulation duties.

ATEX / specialist enclosures

Stainless, GRP, IP65/66 and ATEX-rated enclosures for plant rooms, roof installations and process environments.

Standards every panel is built to

BS EN 61439-1/-2

Low-voltage switchgear & controlgear assemblies — the governing standard for BMS and MCC panel manufacture.

BS 7671 (18th Ed.)

Wiring Regulations — applied to all final connections, protection coordination and earthing.

BSRIA BG 49

Commissioning method, witnessing and records for the controls and panel works once installed.

CIBSE Guide H

Building Control Systems — informs panel architecture, I/O sizing and integration topology.

BMS control panel FAQs

What is a BMS control panel?

+

A BMS control panel houses the controllers, relays, transformers and protection that operate a building's HVAC and energy plant under the Building Management System. It bridges the field devices (sensors, actuators, VSDs) and the BMS supervisor.

Do you design and manufacture panels in-house?

+

Yes — we design, build, wire, test and commission BMS and MCC panels in our workshop under BS EN 61439, then install and integrate them on site. Single point of responsibility from drawing to commissioning.

Which BMS controllers can you fit inside the panel?

+

Trend IQ4, Tridium JACE 8000, Siemens Desigo PXC, Schneider EcoStruxure AS-P/AS-B and Honeywell CIPer/Spyder — plus BACnet, Modbus and KNX gateways where required for integration.

Do you carry out a Factory Acceptance Test (FAT)?

+

Yes. Every panel passes our routine FAT before despatch. We can also host a witnessed FAT with the client, M&E consultant or main contractor and issue a signed test pack.

What standards do your control panels meet?

+

BS EN 61439-1 and -2 for the assembly itself, BS 7671 (18th Edition) for wiring, plus BSRIA BG 49 and CIBSE Guide H for the controls engineering once on site.

Can you replace or upgrade an existing panel without removing the plant?

+

Yes — we plan retro-fit panel swaps with phased shutdowns, temporary controls or changeover switches so plant downtime is minimised. Drawings and points are reverse-engineered before the swap.

What's the typical lead time for a bespoke BMS panel?

+

From approved drawings, 4–8 weeks depending on size, controller availability and any long-lead components (large MCCBs, VSDs, ATEX enclosures). Express builds can be quoted on request.

Do you provide drawings in DWG and EPLAN formats?

+

Yes. GA, schematic and wiring drawings are issued in AutoCAD DWG and PDF as standard, with EPLAN deliverables available where the client's O&M format requires it.
